Anyone know where Valona is?

Just wanted to introduce myself.

I recently finished my young adult/mainstream novel titled, THE BRIDGE BECKONS. I'm currently trying to market it to agents. It is set in a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area and is about a young man's need to overcome post traumatic stress-driven fear of the Carquinez Bridge in California to rescue the girl he loves from her former boyfriend’s jealous rage.

While waiting for agents to bite, I’ve begun work on another YA novel titled, GLENNA! It’s about how a boy learns to love the unlovable.

To answer the question I posed in the title, I'll give you a hint. Valona is a part of where my book is set. It's an actual place in California. Anyone ever heard of it?

Ummm--there's a Valona, GA on the coast, I think. That doesn't help me much with your Valona, CA question, though.

(vlô´re) or Valona , city (1989 pop. 71,662), capital of Vlorë dist., SW Albania, on Vlorë Bay of the Adriatic Sea. Vlorë is a major seaport and a commercial center. Its industries produce olive oil, cement, and alcohol. A commercial fishing fleet and a canning industry are based at Vlorë. Petroleum, natural gas, bitumen, and salt deposits are found nearby. The Kuçovë oil field near Berat is linked to Vlorë by pipeline. Vlorë Bay, strategically located at the mouth of the Adriatic Sea, has long been the site of military installations. In the 5th cent. Vlorë became an episcopal see. The city was prominent in the struggle (11th-12th cent.) between the Normans of Sicily and the Byzantines. It passed to Serbia in 1345 and to the Ottoman Empire in 1464; it was held by the Turks until 1912, when Albanian independence was proclaimed there. Vlorë was occupied by the Italians from 1914 to 1920 and from 1939 to 1944; it was bombed during World War II. It is also known as Vlonë, Vlona, and Vlora.

All nice tries, but no cigars. Okay, another hint. Not only is it in Northern California, it's in the San Francisco Bay Area. In fact, I'll go one more, it's in Contra Costa County.

hi Valona..good luck with your books

I'm in No. Cali..and the only Valona I can find is Valona Landing on the Carquinez Strait. Well, I've never visited, but I've driven overhead on the 680 (580?) many times on my way to Livermore. Your book sounds intriguing. I have several teens and pre-teens in the house, perhaps your book would make a good read for one of them. See you on the boards

You done good. You win the prize, but I forgot what it is, so sorry I don't have anything to send you. Don't you hate when that happens. Yes, Valona Landing is part of the community of Valona. I call it a community, though the residents think of it as an actual town, seperated from the town of Crockett by who knows what. Actually, it's all one town - Crockett, and Valona is on the west end of Crockett.

Good going in your research, and a cool panorama video you found.
