I have two words on a list so far that I am hunting down in my WIP.

Like,
This is a word that leads to ‘tell’ descriptions similar to “He swooped in like an eagle. I am replacing them with ‘show’ sentences that add to the action as in ‘Producing his gold rods he dove toward the woman, his arms pressed to his side, the rods swept forward, poised to strike at this enemy.’

That,
This word is just not needed most of the time.

Dos anyone have any more words we should hunt down?:e2chain::sword

Some people don't use a relative pronoun where one belongs; usually, the missing word is "that".

"This" and "that" are definitely used unnecessarily by many writers. I have a problem with "buts" and "ands" as I mentioned in a previous thread. It appeared those words were problematic for others as well.

Started to...began to.... because they can usually just be replaced by whatever verb comes next.
