Caught it on dvd, so sorry if it's been discussed and dropped down a few pages past where I looked for existing threads.

I watched CAPRICA a while ago and thought "I sort of wish I hadn't seen that, it diminished my memories of the mystery and magic of the cylon origins"

THE PLAN on the other hand I really enjoyed seeing, and am glad they went deeper into the Cylon side of the jihad.

Very funny yet dramatic and haunting frame story, the two cylons talking as they're about to be air-locked.

And I had never heard the entire theme song before, that they play during the end credits. that theme music breaks my heart, it's so beautiful, and reading about the sanskrit origins of the lyrics adds unexpected flavour to the Cylon psyche too.

anyway ... I hadn't seen it on TV, just caught the dvd ... and to anyone who was slightly miffed by CAPRICA, I'd just want to say: THE PLAN is really a nice addition to the mythos.

I actually liked Caprica a lot more than The Plan (though I enjoyed both) since the latter mostly fills in plot points I don't really care about and the former presents new aspects of the BSG universe.

All I've seen of caprica was the intro tv movie, I admit. We may indeed just be into different aspects of the series we both enjoy! I liked the idea of the Cylons finding God as being a mystery (and its currently culturally relevant comments about a "secular" west being beset by a jihad etc) -- The Cylons go off for 40 years and come back not just "human" but ... "human" and "crazy" ... or at least human in the most inexplicable and disturbing of ways: driven by spirits!

And the whole current Sci-Fi issue of "When will we know if the AIs are waking up, when does an AI have to be treated according to "human rights" (yeah, right, like we treat other people like they have human rights etc)

But I know the BSG fans are basically split on the issue of "religiousity" in the series but we still dig the series! Even the BSG creators spun it in other directions at the end ...

I like the Cylon's religious quest also -- and I've only seen the TV film myself. By 'plot points' I meant explaining stuff like what the Final Five were doing before the destruction of the colonies and the bit about the portable water tanks from "Water." Though I must say the Simon storyline was incredibly well-acted, -directed, and -written, as were the two Cavils.
