Different 'than' - superior 'than'

Most of us know that "than" goes with adjectives or adverbs of comparison. Bigger than, smaller than, faster than, etc.

Am the only one here, whose flesh crawls when people misuse "than"?

e.g. - Different than or Superior than.

"Different than" is perfectly OK US Standard English usage, just as "different to" is perfectly OK UK/Commonwealth Standard English usage.

I can assure you that "different to" sounds just as "wrong" in the US as "different than" sounds in AU.

The answer is always to write "different from." ;)
