I'm having a bit of a quandry. Back in June I sent a basic Q&S to Silhouette Special Edition. I've been subbing to Harlequin and Silhouette for several years and with basic queries I typically hear back within a couple of weeks. Usually under a month. I called about a month ago given it had been over 3 months. I was politely informed that if they couldn't find it they'd call me back, but if they did find it I'd get a reply in the mail. Well another month has rolled by and still nothing.
I understand they're busy, but I'm really starting to get annoyed. I know that waiting is part of this business and its not uncommon for some publishers to take a year or longer to get back to someone on a submission. But over four months on a query? And as we all know I can't just send in something else until I get a reply to the last one I sent in. So does anyone have any advice? This is starting to bring out my nasty side, and I rather that didn't happen. I know Har and Sil aren't fly by nights. I shouldn't be taking this personally but I'm beginning to.
