Hey!

Okay so I'm on book 2 of a YA series and I have a question about what is age appropriate. My MC just turned 16.

(Now folks don't get mad, I'm just trying to see what the consensus is.)

Is it too much to have her fingers sucked on by her boyfriend?

That's as far as they would be able to go due to a rule in the boyfriend's world but is that too far?

When I was 16 I had friends who were having sex. Some of them were a little trashy, but not all of them. Finger sucking is fine. And a little weird.

Don't worry about it, My MCs are 16/17 and my MS has finger sucking, sex, smoking, a rape attempt, drag queens, gay people, dead parents, drinking, drug abuse... you name it, I probably have it.

What I'm trying to say is, if it happens in real life, then it's most likely okay to have in your MS.

Mine too! I just wasn't sure about the sucking thing. Now it seems silly. But I guess it's all in the way you do it.

For me, had I read that as a 16 yr old, I would have laughed (okay, I still might), but it's all in how you write it and your intended audience.

This is my initial reaction too for how I would've found it as a teen (and still). Mainly because...on its own? Just finger sucking for the sake of it?

At 16 half the girls in my French class were kicked out for inappropriate behaviour. They sat us in boy-girl pairs and the 'inappropriate behaviour' was finger sucking... but then my best friend from high school went on to become a porn star so I obviously didn't hang with the nicest of girls.
I would say it's probably more normal for a guy to get his fingers sucked but the other way round is pretty common around here too.
