Does this sound like a story you've ever read/movie watched?

Well I was wondering if this summary sounds like a story you've ever read or a movie you've ever watched. I'm not the greatest at writing summaries, but here's my best one I've written:
A killer, Chad has been after Chris, but he doesn’t know it. One day while walking down the street with his girlfriend, Erin and her best friend, Leah, Chris is murdered by the Chad. It takes Chris two years to figure out how to come back as a ghost because he is trapped in the middle of the stage of death and being alive, but when he does come back he goes to find Erin. He reaches her through her dreams at first, but she just thinks she’s going crazy. Eventually when she does realize it’s Chris, Chris admits how much he loved/loves her and asks her to marry him. It takes Erin time, but to gain her trust back, Chris must tell her that his Chad is after her and her best friend. Chad has killed more people since then, but his duty now is to kill Erin and Leah. Chris, Erin and Leah know that they have to kill Chad because if they turn him in, Chad will find a way to fake that he didn’t kill anyone. Can Erin, Chris and Leah kill Chad before Chad gets to Erin and Leah and what will happen once Chris realizes that Erin has moved on and found a new boyfriend?

So does it sound like anything you've heard of before? What's the name of the movie/book if you remember? Also what do you think of the idea?

That's what people said but i've changed it around.. My story is more for teenagers. The only similarity is that there is a ghost that talks to his lover and that they have to kill the killer besides that the scenes are different. Like she's not a witch or anything - she can just talk to him because she knows him and also these people aren't as crazy as the people in the movie...
