I was just researching the Spanish Marines (Infantería de Marina) and learned that it is the oldest currently extant Marine Corps and that it's first employment was against Algiers in 1541 (against the Barbary Pirates).
Does anyone out there, by any chance, know the name of the first Spanish naval vessel to deploy a Marine landing force?
