Would 50,000 more or less words be about right for a satirical pseudo-history? Are is that too short?

If it's finished already and came to 50k, I'd say just pursue it as is and see where it gets you. If you're just planning it, then aim for about that much, and chances are you'll write more than that anyway.
That said, I have a book which is satirical pseudo-travel book, and that's not that big a book, so maybe 50k, maybe less even. The thing to remember is that you can include pictures if you need to flesh the size of the book out for optimisation reasons (a publisher's concern over cost of pages vs. price of one book...) - the book I have has lots of pictures, which is why it could easily be less than 50k.
