When discussing the subject "interactive sex toy technology," do you prefer to call it "teledildonics" or "cyberdildonics"?

As a fan of Slashdong, I prefer the former. But I've run into instances of the latter, and I was curious about the difference.

Like me, Wikipedia favors the word "teledildonics". "Cyberdildonics" gives a redirect.

Which word do you prefer?

In your dreams...
Hmm... "teledildonics"-- doing it with a phone. "Cyberdildonics" -- doing it with a computer. Dunno... I don't even know what "interactive sex toy technology" is. I'm such a dweeb.. but I'm learning..... <g>

Had I coined it, I would have used 'sextech.' You can use what ever you want that works. As for wikipedia, it's an open source encyclopedia, so anyone could have posted the page - no one changes it, it stays.

Here is a story about the subject from Wired: http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/commentary/sexdrive/2004/09/65064

I did a little reading last night and it seems that "teledildonics" is used in the USA, and "cyberdildonics" is used in Australia. I found it as "Teledildonika" on a Russian site (Теледильдоника). I haven't seen any other catch-all words used to describe interactive sex toy technology.

Edited to add: Here's another informative article: http://www.alternet.org/sex/35521/
The last time I played a video game, Kurt Cobain was alive and tokens were involved. Then I read the word "teledildonics," which sounded suspiciously like something you'd hear in a sci-fi parody.

It isn't. Teledildonics is the ability of two people, in separate locations, to manipulate sex toys via internet. You could finger your mouse in New York, and make someone in California sing the ten-second aria.

Further word research shows that "teledildonics" is the preferred word choice.

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Dildonics
Teledildonics are electronic sex toys that can be controlled by a computer. Promoters of these devices have claimed since the 1980s they are the "next big thing" in cybersex technology. Teledildonics (also known as Cyberdildonics) is the integration of telepresence with sex and was coined in the 1980s by Ted Nelson. The term is considered somewhat humorous and speculative, but not so much so that it is not used in serious contexts: indeed, it is the only commonly-used word to express the precise concept. In its original conception, this technology was to have been used for "remote" sex (or, at least, remote mutual masturbation), where the physical sensations of touch could be transmitted over a data link between the participants.
A new word was created to describe this technology when used with a Bluetooth device: bluedildonics.

How about electroclitronics... cybervibronics?

I mean none of these names make much sense as an all encompassing term. Especially as only an innert phallus device is called a dildo, and powered one is called a vibrator.

It's a vibrator with a cell phone attachment. It can be dialed up by your partner, and they can change the settings remotely.
