This one is probably a dumb question, but this totally stumped me recently, so I thought I'd ask anyway.... lol
Is there ever a time when it's okay to use the word "who's" (as in who is)? Or should it always be "whose"?
Here are some sentences as examples to show what I mean:
(This novel is YA, btw)
Are any of these sentences right the way I have them written, or am I all wrong? lol
* He's the first boy I ever kissed. Okay, the only boy, but who’s counting?
* I think I hear Mom coming back into my room. That was quick. But when I open my eyes, it’s Dad who’s standing in my doorway.
* But I don’t point out that unlike Grandpa-who’s-mean-to-everybody, Dad is only mean to me.
* Seems to me you’re the one who’s going to be in trouble.
* There’s enough of me for both of you, so you can stop competing to see who’s going to win me over.
* I’m scared to look over, but I don’t have to to know whose voice that slow drawl belongs to.
Any advice or input will be much appreciated.
