I got a request for a partial from someone I e-queried. They gave me a list of things to send, and wanted it by mail.

So I put these things together and mailed them off.

One thing that wasn't on the list...an SASE! I forgot to put one in there. I just realized this, and it's been a couple weeks...should I mail one in or just trust that he has my email address?

Oh, nuts!

I'd email the agent (or call, if you can find their number), let them know you just realized your mistake, and ask what they'd prefer.

I assume you included a cover letter with your contact info on it and that you put your contact info on the manuscript itself, correct?

Then no need to send an SASE BUT it means that unless they decide to send you revision notes at their cost (unlikely unless they are taking you on) you likely won't get the manuscript back.

BUT, I'd be leery of sending them an SASE now, unless the agent gets in contact by email for some other reason that gives you an open door to ask about sending one.

I'd assume that if they didn't ask for a SASE, they intend to reply via email. That happens a lot nowadays -- even when I have included a SASE, half the time I get an email response.

I did it, too.

I carefully took note of what the agency requested, made sure I had it all, mailed it off...and realized I'd forgotten a SASE.

The kicker is, this was on a partial. They will probably want to contact me, either with a rejection or with a request for more materials. I'm torn as to whether to send an e-mail...perhaps one that notifies them that I've sent the partial, mentions that I forgot a SASE , and asks how this should be handled.

Looks like the advice given in the thread is... no?

I'd probably send an e-mail, both stating that the material has been sent and should be received by whatever date and that I forgot to send a SASE. But it probably doesn't matter. When I got a request for a snail mail partial based on an e-query, the reply came as an e-mail. I think that's common. And if the agent wants to offer rep, she definitely won't let a missing SASE stop her.

Oops! I didn't notice that it was so old. But I suppose Monkey resurrected the thread because she had a similar question.

Yup. That's the way it's done around here. Before you start a new thread, it's best to use your search function and see if the question has already been discussed. :)
