Given that Jesus said "I have made your name manifest," and 'God' is not a name anyway but a title, I say have the courage of your convictions. Say God, write God. If anyone's offended they can do an aadams73 from the other point of view and choose not to read.

Simply for clarity's sake, I'd write "God" too. It's a fantasy query not a Biblical debate.

I don't get why the "G-d" thing even exists. It's ridiculous. As if not typing the vowel somehow makes it as if you're "not writing the name of the lord." That's about as silly and pointless as religious superstitions get, and that's saying something.
Respectfully, I'm not liking this kind of debate at all. Maybe in a different venue...
My degree is in religions, and I write books on religions, so this is kinda my thing.
I would never use G-d.
I use God if referring to a monotheistic God as it is a proper name at that point... He "is" God.
I use god (lower case) when referring to any god in a pantheon Example, "Zeus is a god".
In practical use: "In the fifth century those who worshiped the Roman gods became devotees of the Christian God."

Just for the hellavit, I wanted to toss this bit out at you: The name "God" is not a Christian term. The Judeo-Christian names of God are Yahweh, Eli, Elohim, and Shaddakai. The name GOD is actually Norse, and is the name of a specific Norse deity.
The term "God" was adopted into Christianity when they were converting the Norse, and has stayed ever since. But it has nothing to do with the Bible, Torah, or Koran. Ergo, the people who worry about "using the name of God" are off base. "God" is not one of the names of the Judeo-Christian deity.

There are those who can explain to you in the religious forum why they type G-d instead of God so, I'd take a question to them concerning it, with a much more query based approach than the diminutive based statement above.
As to the OP, type God. It's appropriate.
I don't get the big deal either way. Unless you're part of the portion of the Jewish community that writes G-d instead of God, you don't need to worry about it. On the other hand, I don't see why someone writing G-d instead of God should offend anyone. It's as much a cultural thing as anything else, like speaking with an accent or wearing certain clothes.
I'd say don't write G-d in a query unless you write G-d normally. If the person at the other end is offended by God instead of G-d to the extent that it affects their professionalism, they're not worth doing business with.

Would you write f--k instead of fuck in a novel where the MC had a sudden outburst?? 'Fark' maybe, if they were the type to tone it down. But how do you even say f--k? (You still think 'fuck' in your head, and the point is made)

Excuse me--I can't believe you actually posted this. I'm not Jewish but I take offense to this blatantly rude and ignorant post. This is a forum for writer's to learn how to write and do better at getting published not a place for bigots to vent their ignorant ideas.
I liked your earlier post very much. I see the opinions on how God feels about his name as in the same vein as my hyperbole post. We need to respect others' views on their own religion, imho.
