I'm glad this show lived up to its expectations. I thought the pilot was a bit rocky in places, like they could have spent more time figuring out the phenomenon. It seemed minutes after it happened the news was claiming "everyone in the planet blacked out" and then in the FBI office they all seemed a too quick to accept the visions were of the future.

I know they needed to just get it all out of the way for the real story to start, but I'm glad they stepped it up later in the end by a) kickstarting the visions becoming real and b) the waking man at the stadium in Detroit.

Plus it's got a great cast ... I was surprised to see Seth MacFarlane.

It should be able to fill the LOST void for awhile, especially when Dominic Monaghan finally shows up.

I'm worried with such a HUGE pilot, they would have a problem following it up. We'll see. I mean, LOST did start with a plane crash...

There was a definite LOST-ish vibe in the beginning I feel was deliberate. Joseph Fiennes around the car wreckage, for one, and then the guy on the bridge (don't know any character names yet...) waking up on his back.

And although this wasn't in the actual episode, but Monaghan delivering the last line in the promo was reminiscent of the season 1 "Guys, where are we?" LOST promos.

Not to mention the Oceanic Airlines billboard in the background.

The more I think about it the more I really want it to work, but David S. Goyer has worked on a lot of other great projects so I can think it can.

I trust David Goyer. After all, he gave us the Dark Knight. But still, features are very different than TV series -- can he sustain it through a season... and more? We'll see. So far, so good though. I just hope it doesn't frizzle out.

I was referring more to his work on comics, which are obviously more episodic.

Loved the show. Sprinkle in just a tiny bit of the movie Momento.

Especially when they catch up to -- is the future date April 23rd?

I was wondering about their timeline, but I don't think they're going to catch up for a long while. The first four seasons of LOST cover about 100 days. The fifth season was more like a couple of weeks. This show has a lot more time to cover until they catch up ... six months. If this show lasts, I'm expecting the same kind of slow buildup.

I chose to watch the opener of Bones rather than this. (Bones was teh awesome, so no regrets.) I'm hoping IMDB will have the series available, because we don't have Tivo.

Thanks for the reviews, gang.

Great pilot. More than lived up to the hype. It was pretty creepy seeing that guy walking through the stadium while everyone else was out. I'm interested in seeing where they're going to take this show.

I finally had a chance to watch this on ABC.com this morning.

I'm intrigued. We'll see if they can maintain that. :) I hope so.

Did anyone see the Lost references/connections? First and foremost, of course, is Penny (Sonya Walger) as Fiennes' wife. Dominic Monaghan is also on the show (although he wasn't in the pilot). Then there's the Oceanic billboard in the background. And a kangaroo running loose in L.A.? What else?

I bet the 2:17 minutes blackout crashed Oceanic 815! (just kidding, wrong year and time)

The Oceanic billboard said "Perfect safety record."

Flash Forward (merged with other thread)

Anyone but me watching "Flash Forward?" I think it's very good and have enjoyed the first two episodes. It will be interesting to see what happens in the weeks to come.

I've really enjoyed it so far, but I'm wary of it running out of steam. The first episodes with the event and aftermath have been great, but sustaining this seems like it will be a bit tricky.

Despite his/her apparently broad shoulders, does anyone think it possible Suspect Zero is a woman?

Yeah, I kind of assumed that whole video forensics stuff was just going to be a big red herring. The second they said, "we think it's a man!" I said, "You're going to be wrong!"

ETA: And, Charlie? They had to name Penny's Olivia's kid Charlie? She should have the opportunity to call her fake TV children by different names.

Well, that's one of the things I was peeved at the writers for. <G>

Okay, let's recap their theory -- person is, according to their wild calcuations, 5'8" and weighs like 158 pounds. And because of THAT, they decided it's a man??? Huh?

How does that make it a man? I'm 5'7". I weigh very close to that amount. I have a sister who's 6'.

I think these writers hang out too much with California women or something. What do they think? A woman weighs about 110?

Another let-me-slap-the-writers bit -- when Noh says he met a woman who didn't have a vision, and five minutes later, she was dead. Ummmm...they met in the afternoon -- it was daylight. When she died, it was dark out. <sigh>

Also-- what the heck was that lady FBI agent doing having an ultrasound at 10:00 AT NIGHT??? (That's when the flashforwards are, right? That's what the hero told his wife.) Weird office hours that doc's office keeps.

However, one thing I DID love was the FBI Chief guy's story of his flashback. LOLOL! That had me laughing.

Over all, I think it's a cool show, and I hope it continues to be. But I think the writers need to tighten up a bit. Pay attention to what they're writing in some instances.
