I ran across a link to this trailer for a book by Katie Alexander. I've been trying to look at book trailers to figure out what works, and this one takes a different approach, at least to the ones I've seen-the main character narrates the set-up. What do you think?

That was a well-done trailer. It was a bit slow for me in the beginning, and I wondered why a teenager was doing dark-room enlarging instead of digital printing, but the shock moment did its thing.

I wondered about the dark room part as well. I did like it, but it could have either been a little faster paced at the beginning or a bit more eerie.

Hi! I'm Katie Alender, and that's my trailer. Glad you like it.

We opted for a darkroom because my main character shoots film, not digital.

I think it's extremely well done -- my first thought was, that's the benefit of selling your book to Hyperion! (aka disney) unless of course, it wasn't produced by the publisher?

either way, serious congrats Katie. seems like a great book. and the cover is amazing

Oh! I'm not usually into booktrailers, but that was great! Leave it to Disney to be good at promotion. Maybe they'll stumble on some cool, new way to do it.

Disney didn't actually produce it--my husband and I did it with the help of friends. But we work in the entertainment industry (well, I used to).

Wow!

I saw the it and it was hot!
The girl who did the VO was great. Very American girl with big dreams and small town. Then there's the twist. well done!

That looks like an actual movie clip, and the voice over sounds a bit like Mandy Moore. Looks really interesting though and really well done! :)
