So there are basically two novels that are the ideas which inspired me to start writing in the first place. Either could potentially become a series, if it goes well at all. Though I can't say "well" is the word I'd use.
Basically I'd given up on both at one point recently and gone on a short story binge in a different genre (novels are sci-fi/speculative, short stories are pretty much literary realism with one or two sci-fi here and there).
One novel I thought was awful because it's sort of language/image heavy and written towards a younger audience, so I abandoned it 15,000ish words in.
Moved on to the other novel, which I was about 13,000 words into for the umpteenth time of rewriting it from scratch with a different voice, style, everything--and what did I do? Abandoned.
Considered doing a literary novel idea, but don't have enough to make the idea novel-length just yet.
So, after getting ready to smash my computer over the more recent novel, I decided to read over the first one just for fun, to see how bad it really was.
And here's the weird thing--I LIKED it again. It really didn't seem so bad at all. Rough, yes, but it had spirit and it had a story, and characters.
Has that ever happened to you? I though it was: look at it the next day, realize it's crap. But I didn't know the part about: look at it months later, damn, not bad.
Hmmm. Interesting. I'm back in full-stride on this one...for now...

Might make a bit more sense.
