Another newbie - Note: some links to R-rated articles included
Hi,
My name's Yvette and I'm a writer wannabe. I'm 45 now and haven't come close to accomplishing my life goal of getting published (unless a couple of little contests count). All I'm looking for is one published magazine article so I can finally take this todo item off my life list.
My paying job is in IT. I've been in software engineering my whole career and although programming can be creative, the favorite part of my job is writing emails.
I got divorced a couple of years ago and thought I'd write a series of humor articles about dating again in your 40's. I've submitted to a couple of publications, but no luck so far. I think my problem is that I don't spend nearly enough time figuring out how to really go about getting published...so I'm taking some serious steps. (Well...my writing probably needs work as well.)
I created a blog last week: http://home.earthlink.net/~yvettefrancino/singleagainonlinediary/index.html
and posted my articles there. (Do I have to worry about copyrighting?)
Here's an example of one of the essays:
(Note: this is probably the most sexually explicit. Probably R-rated)

I've been googling and finding lots of resources, including this site, to help me figure out what I'm doing.
Any advice is most welcome.
