I’m writing a story which has three separate groups of people in two different eras. Two groups do their thing 150 years ago, the other is in the present. I’m setting it out as alternating chapters. The two groups in the past never meet until midway through the story, therefore there are, in all, three MCs.
I’m curious about whether you think a publisher might say three MCs would weaken readers’ interest in the story and be a cause for rejection.
