Craigslist is full of scammers who prey on writers. I wouldn't do it.

Hmm.

It could be legit but how can you tell?

You can also hire a prostitute on Craig's list. That's how a few got busted in my hometown during an internet police sting.

I don't know. I think I'll give them a call and see if I can feel things out. I'll post what happens and let you all know.

You got the advice but chose to ignore it. Remember that.

I'll add my voice to those warning you against this. Scammers are often very skillful. What makes you think you can feel them out?

There are questions you can ask to separate scam agents from the real deal. I think the same line of reasoning can be applied to other professionals. Jodie should be asking about previous clients and experience. After all, being located in Hollywood doesn't say anything. That said, if he can't get any clear answers, she should run a mile.

Hate to say it, and not trying to knock Craiglists... but legit writers/agents/pitchmen don't need to advertise on Craiglists.

Like someone else said, we gave you advice and you're just going to do it anyway. So what's the point of this thread? Are you trying to advertise their service here? Hmmm...

p.s. this is Jodie's first thread (and only posts). Suspicious, me? You bet.

Craigslist?
Of all the places you could look for a co-author, why you would choose such a highly questionable place (and I think that's being nice)? But you did, so be careful.

If you go to the website of the craigslist peeps in question, all it says is that they "turn your scripts into illustrated audiobooks". I wonder why one would want one of those or what one would do with such a thing.

I was looking on craigslist for a co-author to partner with when I saw this.

I have a few scripts that never went anywhere and I was thinking of sending a few to these guys but wanted to see if anyone had ever used anything like this before.
These guys could be anywhere. Say the magic word, Hollywood, and eager ears perk up. If they want money, and they probably do, treat them as the scammers they probably are.

I don't think I'd look for a co-author in the same place I can buy baby clothes, a used toaster, a car, and whores. But that's just me.
