Book recs: urban fantasy in near-future/future setting?

This is a genre I've seen in video games and I LOVE it, particularly that gritty urban magic feel of games like The Longest Journey, Dreamfall and -even better- the upcoming The Secret World (Ragnar Tornquist is my favorite storyteller <3 ). Doctor Who is also along those lines.

I want more more more! I'm also brainstorming something in that setting so I'd like to know what's out there, what's been done, etc

Any books I should look into? (Or other video games, TV shows, movies along those lines...but preferably books!)

Not sure about future... but if you like urban fantasy, I'd say be sure to read things like:

Patricia Briggs' ALPHA & OMEGA series
Jim Butchers' THE DRESDEN FILES series
Kim Harrison's THE HOLLOWS series

Trippy movies you might like:

Donnie Darko
Repo!: The Genetic Opera (WARNING: This movie is GRAPHIC -- but awesome.)

I'll think of some more when my brain isn't fried. Those should do for starters.

Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series is a near future/alternate version of Atlanta, might be worth checking out. The first book is Magic Bites.

Magic Bites was fun - she wrote my favorite type of vampires, so unique.

*Caitlyn Kittridge's Nocturne City series - no vampires (yet that I've seen) but the MC is a werewolf
*Street Magic - same author as above but the one of the MC's a mage. Set in London.
*S.M. Stirling's The Change series - post-apocolyptic (sp?) series, starts with Dies the Fire

Second the Dresden series. I only read the first part of the first book but what I did get through was fun.
