Why is this show not working for me? It seems they have the formula right. All the ingredients are there. Artifacts, a bit of Americana, a chubby humorous fatherly figure, two moderately attractive leads with complimentary personalities, awkward romantic tension, standalone plots with a bit of mystery and detection. This show could be great. I've given it a chance, but I am ready to give up. What are they getting wrong? It's just not compelling. I get bored about 20 minutes into it, and getting to the end is a chore. Does it need more supporting characters, or a consistent villain? Or what?
