Docx file issues

Maybe try saving it as a .DOC file (instead of .DOCX). That would probably retain the formatting.

Yeah-- just save as Word 1997-2003 format and it'll be fine. Or at least 98% fine-- some of the new fancy features in the new office are not available in the old one, so Word dumbs its own stuff down.

Also, your friends can get an office 2007 compatibility patch for their versions of Office (I know it works with Office 2003 and 2000) that will allow them to open all new file types.) As more and more people get Office2007, more and more of the old-school users will want to have the compatibility pack.

Watch file names... sometimes they don't always turn out as you expect (like it'll put in *.doc for the file name and if you're not paying attention, you don't take out the * when you type the name you want). But of course, we always pay attention to what we name it AND where we save it, right? =)

Set the option to always save as doc, and then you won't have to worry about it unless you want the good stuff (and docx is rather cool). Word 2007's options dialog is much easier to find one's way around in.
