Posted new NaNoisms. Goofy, but I like them.

And, somebody tell me why I should not stay up to write just 500 more words, to break 70k tonight this morning...

I love conventions.

Either I'm surrounded by My Tribe which pleases me, or I'm surrounded by the people who make me realize that while I'm weird according to most people, I'm not really that weird.

I only go to conventions because is the only place in the tristate area where you can buy geeky DVDs like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Tod Browning's Freaks and Labyrinth.

They have deep anime at deepdiscount.com

Last convention I went to, my friend and I got to sword fight the owners of this store. Totally pwned them. :)

All I can say is...Max, may you never find out firsthand what a yaoi paddle is. I saw one for the first time at Sogencon this year - one of the female attendees was carrying it around. As far as I know, it was only carried around, but...there is a reason some conventions ban them outright.

Oh, and glomping? If it's pre-agreed-upon by all parties involved, fine. Uninvited? No. Random strangers? That's just asking for trouble.

My husband and I attended Otakon for several years (for you non-otaku out there, it's pretty much the largest Anime convention on the Eastern side of the U.S., and in fact it grew so large recently that they had to start capping registration at around 20,000 to meet the convention center's fire code). In our first couple of years, the people sitting along the hallways with signs asking for or offering everything from ramen to pocky to free glomps got so problematic that Security started banning them. That's how thickly the hallways were lousy with 'em.

The only anime type stuff I like is Sailor Moon (totally rocks monkey butt) and Inuyasha 'cause that also rocks monkey butt. But I do have to say I have totally fallen for the classic/goth Lolita style. I am gettin' me one of them there dresses. (for some reason I am talking like Festus today.)

Hmm.

Shamus Young's piracy/DRM rants come to mind. Namely, what added value is Hulu going to be providing in their pay model that piracy won't?

My nano is at the stage of EXTREME SUCK ABORT NOW

But I just keep telling myself hey it's a first draft, it's okay to suck.

you can fix it all later.

wordage-wise, i'm at just under 36 k (so almost half of a novel...or thereabouts)

Mine isn't a Nano but I'm positive about it so far. Which no doubt means I need to put it away for AT LEAST two months once I've completed my first draft.

A couple of scenes I know I've underwritten, and one will probably need to be cut out, and there's a lot of dialogue, some of which may well need to be trimmed...but I'm liking it so far. Especially compared to The Plague Year, which in its present pre-rethink version is only 2k longer than Partings and Greetings is so far, and was like pulling teeth to write.

I am so glad to have some warm, hot, caffeinated coffee.

I also bought me some fancy creamers for this weekend! :) I think I can knock out all my werds by Sunday - so we're talkin', NaNo-lisciousness by Sunday.

Achievement. It will like a new flavor in the mouth.

I has coffee times.

Also, I has plot times.

Random fact: on Monday I was trying to use the rewind feature on my iPod, but it was messed up for some reason and it kept rewinding to the wrong point (like, I would move it to the 2:00 mark but it would be at the 2:30 point of the song). I was getting really frustrated and playing bits of the song over and over. In case you were wondering, the longest you can play "Saint Elmo's Fire" over and over again full blast over your earbuds before the guy next to you starts bugging out his eyes and balling up his fists is 23 minutes. True fact.

I need a laptop, I just can't be working bits of a story in a computer, and other bits on other computer.

I just email the WIP to myself every time I quit working on it. And I work on multiple computers (and in a notebook too). Or you can use a USB drive to transfer it, or this DropBox thing Fenika keeps telling me to get.

Yes, the USB is a good idea. I used to e-mail it myself, until I got something screwed up and ended up losing half a page...
