Hello everyone,
I just finished my second story. It took me about two weeks to write it.
Does a short story from a punk teenage girl's POV about her life, her odd personality and her strange friendship with a homeless person, sound interesting?
Perhaps after I am finished editing I should post the first 100 words for critiques.

I would probably have said no . . . until I got to the part about the homeless person. I can see where that would offer some possibilities for an interesting story.

Neither here nor there.
I'm going to side with Alleycat. Homeless person aside, if the MC is a typical alienated teenage punk who has multi-colored hair, snake bites, and combat boots, I wouldn't be interested. So, just keep that in mind.

The homeless person would offer some interesting possibilities for the story, though, which intrigues me.

Do you want a comment or two (opinion) about such a story, or would you rather just go off and write the story? Either way is fine; some people like to talk through things, some people would rather develop everything themselves.

I have already written this story. I was just asking if my outline sounded interesting so I would know before I posted the first few pages or so.
And thanks for commenting twice.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you had finished your second story, and was thinking about your next one. I get it now. ;-)

Honestly...not really.

The problem is that you don't reveal enough information. We don't know what this teenage punk or homeless person is like, how the plot unfolds, or the quality of the writing and storytelling. Therefore, any response is probably not going to be very helpful. However, I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to give too much away. There's kind of a fine line that we writers walk between wanting feedback and maintaining some degree of secrecy. I've completed two novels and I'm well into a third, but I don't want to reveal anything about them until I secure contracts. So I just don't talk about them. I did post one chapter in the critique forums of the latest book, though, but I felt the chapters beyond that first one revealed a bit too much.

Try posting the first 1000 words in the SYW section. That should be long enough for critters to be able to get into the story and offer meaningful comments :)

Ultimately, the story is going to be what either wins over an editor or makes them hit the auto-response button on their e-mail (or printer, for hard copy subs).

I'd recommend plopping it over in the SYW area, and having folks take a look-see. Getting feedback on a one-line blurb isn't going to be helpful, in my opinion...

I understand. That makes alot of sense. Thanks.
