After reading dvbone's story of what it was like to work for PA, I thought it would be a good idea to have such posts in an easily accessed thread.

1. dvbone: "let me tell you what your book went through"

PublishAmerica is just a fast food printing joint, not a publisher. You put your heart and soul into your novel. PA puts nothing into it. Jump dump it into a PDF form and sent it to the press. Then it's onto the next one.

2. KingGraham: Words from an ex-employee (not good words)

Underpaid desk jockey reads a few words. If you live in the USA, are 18+ years old and can write a complete sentence then your manuscript is accepted.

There's probably more I've missed, so please add to this.

Ex-PA employee on "Making Light"

When they say they reject 80%, that includes everything they get and don't publish, like single poems and authors who are underage, previously published books, and works that are too short. It's like saying you're cutting back on portions because you didn't eat the plate and silverware.
