From his blog

And from what he says here, it doesn't look like the kind of alcoholism that Stephen Kings suffered from, still, though, it comes as a surprise.

I started watching Roger Ebert's reviews on "Sneak Previews" on PBS, and later of course, At the Movies.

I read his reviews every week on his website, and generally, if he pans a movie (even if I wanted to see it), I won't go see it.

Interesting how he's been thirty years sober. I never knew.

Neither did I. I too am a recovering alcoholic, one of those who has managed to stay sober without going through a program. I took my last drink on May 7, 1987 after nearly two decades of boozing, the latter years daily and heavily. I shudder to think where I'd be today if I hadn't stopped. It's entirely possible I wouldn't be alive.

We each find our way. I salute Mr. Ebert for finding his.
