I've been stuck at the dream since midnight last night.
"The dream" is one I've had for thirty five years now, but I can't seem to capture it in words. The dream comes in flashes, so it's hard to follow if I write it the way it is. It's very important to the plot because it explains a lot about my state of mind as a young man.
Can I write the flashes as is, and then explain what really happened when I wake up?
That seems easier, but I'd like to know if there are any rules about this I don't know.
