Hello everybody.
I’ve been lurking for some time now and thought I had
better join in on some of your fun. I’m an aspiring writer though I’ve published documents, procedures, and tech Help Books at the John F Kennedy Space center for the last 45 years, I’ve wanted to break into writing fiction, no big deal- not much fun writing documents on systems maintenance and restores.
I was a Lead in the communications/Operations Department and my responsibility was within the Launch Operation Areas.
Having been in that field for such a long time, I’m now retired and for several years have wanted to write stories, or as you would say, write a fiction/thriller/espionage novel.
I attempted to do those four times now and every time I start one and get half way finished, it automatically reverts to a Fiction/Time Travel story taking my subject to the Sixteenth Century. You know, the kind where you’re out fishing on your boat in the big ocean and find your port as you had left it is no longer there; where it takes you three days to find safe harbor only to run into pirates and people who dress and talk funny. What do you do to defend yourself, hit em with a trolling plug?
Out of those four I’ve started, I have two I like a lot that I may hone up and submit some day. Having laid those to rest a bit, I’ve finally accomplished writing two fiction, thriller/espionage novels in the 70,000 word size that are complete while I’m attempting to edit myself but darn these Commas, Apostrophes... etc. Third person verb usage is a little hard for me, but I’m getting there and it’s fun! I may even get to publish one and if so, I may even buy me a motor scooter and some new fishing gear.
That’s enough on me, I wanted to ask a question, but I forgot what it was. Heck, at 70 years of age, do you expect me to remember what I was talking about?
Thank you, everyone for making this place what it is and helping those of us, like me, to learn how to write and what follows that.
Thank you for having such a nice place.
