Style change

Okay, so far I've done two major erotic scenes in my WIP. I like both of them but wow, the difference in style between the two is huge. Is that a problem? Should I try to make the styles more alike? Does it matter?

If it makes a difference, it's the same woman but diffferent men.

Depends on what you mean by style. Are you talking like, lovemaking and hardcore BDSM? Is it what they do that's different, or how you've written it?

How I've written it. There's a logical progression in intensity? kink? whatever in the sex scenes but a real difference in the style of writing. Both work, but the first is sweet and she's there but not all there-- you know, first time jitters-- and the second is stream of consciousness-- she is totally engaged and we're there with her.

Seems fine to me. Much of the time (in my limited experience) style comes as a result of what mood you're in when you write the scene, how tired or not you are, how distracted or not...it'll all still be in your voice.

The same author can write different styles - in fact, it's a mark of a good author, being able to get 'in character' as the mood or genre requires it.

I agree with sp. So long as your protag is recognizably the same character, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Selah! It's in 1st person POV and the voice is the same; her description is more involved in the second one. Or she's more involved. Or something like that. Anyway ..
