What about getting your debut novel in the mail and then waiting to open it on a live webcam?!

How crazy would that be?

I guess that is cool. Considering its your first book, and its a great feeling. A definate memory I would want to keep.

It was a blast! Waiting seven hours to open the package was a cool test of self-control. I had the cam on for hours, but only recorded the actual event.

I had 22 people watching live (not including the friends and family that came over to spectate in person). Then I've had several dozen check out the recorded video.

Not bad for an unknown author that hasn't released the book yet!

Edit: It seems the YouTube video of the unveiling has had around 100 hits. Only 80 or so of those could possibly be my wife.

Thanks! It's been an amazing experience, bringing my first book to market.

So far, I've found it better to be lucky than good. I got noticed by the perfect publisher, got an endorsement prior to publication by a perennial NYT Bestseller, and today I found out I might be getting a review in Publisher's Weekly!

If this is reward for living a stellar former life, I dread what's upcoming in repayment for my current one...
