I think it is going to pass us by, but we will have monstrous rip currents at the beaches this weekend. Surf will be good for those with boards.
I hope it somehow crashes in and soaks Upstate South Carolina with about 20 inches of rain. We sure could use it.
North Georgia appears to have gotten out of the years-long drought the Southeast has had with all the rain we've had since last winter or so. Is SC still having that same old drought?
But yeah, I dunno if those path things (the one I saw shows it going north and maybe hitting land all the way up in Canada, by which time it would presumably be very weak) are very trustable. Looks like we'll know more by Saturday or so.
It's all they are talking about on the TV here in Rhode Island.
So I'm sure our peeps will be hitting the grocery stores in droves, stocking up on bottled water, milk and bread, canned goods, batteries and whatnot.

I think I will buy some water tonight. I learned with Ike that being a thousand miles inland doesn't guarantee there won't be a hurricane outside your door.

Yeah, last year when the "remnants" of Hurricane Ike went through Ohio, we had hurricane force winds and 17 inches of rain. We were actually declared a federal disaster area.
I liked hurricanes too, and then I went through Hurricane Andrew. Now I can't get far enough away from them. I thought Ohio was far enough. My bad...

I remember that. We huddled in the house for a couple of days, listening to the wind whip through like a banshee. My parents suffered worse than we did, I think. We didn't lose power or anything.
