I read alot of different genres... Romance, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Sci-fi, fantasy, YA, mystery, military, thrillers... right now, my interest seems to be drawn mostly towards urban fantasy and paranormals with erotic and romantic influences.
NO, and i usually don't read a lot of straight up romance. My main interests are paranormal, fantasy and urban fantasy, sci-fi and horror. So most of the romance I read fall under those categories. But I also read thrillers, mysteries, historical, and non-genre fiction. Depends on my mood.
I'm reading a lot of non-fiction. The fiction, when it's not Romance, is pretty random. I'm not looking for a particular genre, just interesting writing. So I'd read Jim Butcher or Tanith Lee ... both of them with something to teach me.
I'm partial to romance (thank you Barbara Cartland) but I'll read horror, 'literature', fantasy, and urban fantasy. I'm not big on mysteries or non-fiction.
I used to read a lot of science fiction, fantasy, and manga, but recently I have mostly read romance novels. I kind of ran out of patience/interest for stories which don't have a guaranteed happy ending and romantic content, although I'd still be happy with a fantasy adventure with a romance subplot, or most kinds of comedy as long as it had a happy ending.
Yes, I read mostly romance, probably 3 books a week, a variety of subgenres.
I occasionally read women's fiction that is not particularly romance, mysteries, speculative genres and erotica. I tend to read in gluts--all by one author, or all scifi or all historicals.
When my budget is tight I read more genres because I depend on the library. and they don't have a good romance buyer, though she will buy suggested books.
As far as romance, I'll read any. I read a SYW gay romance chapter today thinking I wouldn't like it, but I did. If it's good writing I can read the back of a matchbook.
I will pretty much read anything - from fiction to non-fiction.
My favorite reads tend to be thrillers, mysteries and non-fiction works - which is kind of funny though because I have no desire to write in any of those genres.
I like mystery, urban fantasy like Charlaine Harris and Kim Harrison and YA. I used to read a lot of horror, but I just haven't found much I can get into lately that isn't a book version of the Saw movies.
I like humor and cookbooks too, especially books on baking and indian cuisine. I've been toying with the idea of creating a website of Lord of the Rings recipes (Lembas anyone?).
I read horror, suspense, occasional paranormal, used to read fantasy and scifi. The romances I read in the past were mainly the Bertrice Small genre. I always loathed 'sweet romance'. I need some blood and guts and gore and horror and awful stuff happening to hold my interest. Grandma used to read Harlequin Romances back in the 60s and 70s and my mother told me if she ever caught me reading them she'd ground me for life. Fortunately, I grew up with gothic horror/romance. I guess I was twisted from the beginning. Then again, I read The Exorcist and The Godfather when I was 9 or 10, and the LOTR books around the same age.
Right now it feels like I only read romance because I'm still working through a box of free books from the Romantic Times conference. Usually I read lots of mysteries. Some fantasy but not as much as I used to, except Terry Pratchett.
I read A LOT of Nora Roberts. She also writes as JD ROBB and that falls under Mystery, so I enjoy that too. I've read David Baldacci and enjoy him thoroughly.
I'd like to post a link to a story that I had trouble with on another forum. I was devastated! I was told it wasn't "friendly" for that forum. I would have NEVER posted if I thought otherwise. May I post the link here and you guys let me know if it's a bit racey for a "family oriented" site on a community board forum.
