I'm not sure if this post belongs here or in freelance writing, so I'm sorry if it is in the wrong place. Anyways, I've noticed that many magazines request a cover letter along with your manuscript (whether it's short fiction or poetry). I was just wondering how this cover letter works. Is it simply all your contact information, or does this cover letter have a synopsis of what you wrote (much like a query?)
