I saw this from the YA section. It's, of course, every writer's fantasy to have their book turned into a well-written movie or play (or most of us anyway!). Or, the pictures can be what you think your characters might look like. So...cast your novel(s).

For ATFB, my main characters:

kate-winslet-white-dress.jpg

Kate Winslet as Leah

url

Elle Fanning as Aliz and Hajna (twins, Aliz is the main character)

kristen-stewart-pic.jpg

Kristen Stewart as Isabelle

These are the three MCs (it alternates between their voices). There are other characters, but many of them are just secondary.

Orchid (My main character)

Bonnie Wright :D

Mina

Anna Tsuchiya

Luna

emily-browning.jpg

Emily Browning (I guess. I haven't really put a lot of thought into Luna o_O)

Isaac

Sam Earle *Swoon*

Those are just the main, main characters. Everyone else (Besides Raeyf) is still iffy. ^_^ This was fun!

Cool idea for a thread. This one may take me a few minutes to think of.
In Harbour City Story, the prinicipal characters would be Peter Krauss (Six Feet Under) for Jackie Eckhart and Red would be played by Annie Wersching (24). Krauss and Annie would have awesome chemistry.
Alex Stephanopoulos would be played by Dominic West (the Wire) and his brother Eris by Bob Gunton (the Shawshank Redemption). Annabelle would be Yunjin Kim (Lost), and Michael Rossi would be played by Michael Imperioli (the Sopranos).
That's a pretty cool cast.

Sam Earle is KC on Degrassi right? haha, I'm ashamed to admit I'm in my mid-20s and know that.

I haven't heard of anyone on this page apart from Kate Winslet.

Oh, and Kristen Stewart - to my shame.

I care not one jot about casting my novel unless I take charge of the casting couch.

Fun, fun, fun!!

My MC, Ahmose, would be Carmen Ejogo. She's basically the spitting image in my mind of my fictional Queen Ahmose.

Carmen%20Ejogo-4.jpg

My antagonist, Queen Mutnofret, would be Maya Rudolf

mayarudolph.jpg

And Thutmose would be played by himself:

Handsome, ain't he? Seriously, though, I can't think of an actor who would look like the guy I described in my book, so...eh.

The MC of my "almost" finished novella would be a slightly more bedraggled Callum Blue.
callum-blue.jpg

Think slightly longer (and scruffier) hair and beard.

The MC of my WIP scifi would be Richard Dean Anderson, or similar.
richard-dean-anderson.jpg

That sort of age, build, look anyway. But with one arm.

EDIT - My novel's MC would be played by a slightly younger Viggo Mortensen.
viggo_mortensen.jpg

He'd have slightly shorter black hair, too. ;)

I LOVE callum Blue!! I'd totally want him to play Miles in "The End's Beginning" :-D

That actress is gorgeous! Yeah I feel ya. Sometimes it is a stretch to think of an actor to play your role. I'm having trouble picturing anyone as Isabelle, but I put KS in there...

This sort of thing never works for me, honestly. The vast majority of my characters look like regular people, not movie star people. And I never see anyone in a show or movie and think, oh, that's what my character looks like. Most actors and actresses (that we see in the US at least) all look sort of same-ish, whereas humanity all looks sort of different-ish.

Okies.

MCs are brother and sister. A few alterations to fit the fantasy realm of the setting, but these give the right impression. Obviously, not possible for real movie casting :p

Ron Livingston could be my male lead:
ron-liv-1.jpg

I'll take Kristen Stewart as one female lead:
kristen-stewart-20081029-467428.jpg

And Diane Lane as the other:

Amanda Seyfried would be the female lead's best friend:

Oh, how far up my alley is this! :hooray: I do this anyway, casting my writing. I treat my writing much the same as a film production, with most of the time spent on casting - a lot of time on casting . . . . . .

So, the cast of Knowledge Can Be A Dangerous Thing:

MC - Det. Tracy Fox (Persia White)
Tracy1.jpg

Det. Michael Parker (Bill Bellamy)
Michael1.jpg

Alexis (Tatyana Ali)
Alexis-big.jpg

Kiara (Alicia Keys)
Kiara1.jpg

Callie (Ashanti Douglas)
Callie1.jpg

Unfortunately, Raven is played by someone I knew in high school, and while I do have a photo, it's not very good and even if it was I don't think she'd want me putting it on this site. Sorry. :)

To make up for that, a couple from later in the series:

Det. Jenny Garrett (Mya Harrison)
Jenny2.jpg

and Adeline Thackery (Marsha Thomason)
Addie4.jpg

So those are the major players. :)

I'll consider adding the folks from the spinoff series later in the thread. ;)

She seems to have a good combination of toughness and vulnerability, I think. And in my case, she looks a lot like how I've already described my main character.

That said, I could totally understand an author being worried about Twilight typecasting!

Does no-one write about ordinary-looking people?

In my own defense, those two are a God & Goddess :) The rest of the cast is very normal in my mind. For instance!

Rubena - She's still a beauty though :/ (Imagine her in extremely messy dreadlocks to her tush *nod*)

Roy Dupuis as Kod
Any supermodel as Alexanne (suggestions welcome)
Marie-Josée Croze as Zinackst

Hey guys, just quick reminder that if you're posting photos, please make sure you are not hot-linking images. This means you should be uploading them via a host site like Photobucket and not directly copy/pasting links/images from other websites.

I'm not saying anyone here has done it, so don't panic. ;) If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can check out some of these links.

I like her, personally. I've actually never seen or read Twilight, which would perhaps be a mistake in the current market if you're talking casting. I recently saw her in Speak and I though she embodied the "tortured teen" thing pretty well.

But...it's not like my book has even been published, and far from a movie deal. ;) I don't think I'll have to worry about Kristen Stewart in my movie (or Elle Fanning) because I'm sure they'll both age out of the roles if and when my book turns into a film!

Christopher Walken will play every role in my novels. Because when he puts his pants on, he makes gold records.
