[FONT=times new roman,new york,times,serif]Hey Fellow Writers,
I’m new to the group – so, hello! My name is Iris. Live and work as a freelance writer in California. Major Burroughs fan.

As a way of introducing myself, I thought I would launch into talking about a favorite book of mine, Naked Lunch.

A question -- did you all know this year marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of NAKED LUNCH?

I found out that a personal favorite – the independent publishing house RE/Search Publications – is offering a Burroughs Valu-Pak, which includes a rare hardback and a 1978 magazine featuring Burroughs.

Since it’s the anniversary, I thought I would spread the word – this is something I bought for my cousin and he loved it …rare interviews, literary excerpts, amazing photos, an article by Burroughs on the cut-up method of Brion Gysin, etc. …a treat for hardcore fans and newbies alike.

I’m curious to know – how did you all first discover Naked Lunch? And have you found any other books that capture the spirit of Burroughs/Naked Lunch?

-Iris

Sorry I can't say I've read the book, but just wanted to say :welcome:

Hopefully some other people will step in and have something to say about your thread subject!

Well, I rented the Peter Weller movie version of the book, but never watched it. I have read Cities of the Red Night, though, and found it a curious mix of genres that worked to pretty clever effect, at least in terms of theme and how it manages to make said theme relevant to the reader in reach-up-off-the-page fashion.
