Okay, here's the gist... I have a query letter, and I worked very hard to ensure it's grammatically correct. I intend to cut and paste it to an email to an agent, but I've been told that it will show up as jibberish to the recipient unless I turn of all the Autocorrect commands. I created the document in Windows Office 2007. As is, will it show up as jibberish if I send it? How can I make sure that doesn't happen?

Save it as plain text. Open it with Notepad. Fix it in Notepad. Save it. Paste from Notepad into e-mail. Or paste it into Notepad and go on from there.

Turn off all that fancy cr@p anyway, it will make it impossible to format a manuscript properly.

You can always email the message to yourself, preferably at a non Outlook account, and see what it will look like when it arrives at the agent's email. If it works, then repeat the process, sending it to the agent.

If it's a query letter, which should be a single page, how difficult is it just to retype the damn thing straight into the e-mail? Certainly can't take more time than posting the question here and waiting for suggestions.

Well, personally, if I am haviing a bad flare-up of the RSI in my wrists and am trying to keep typing to a minimum, then even sparing myself the re-typing of 400 or so words is a help.
