Passed or Past?

I looked around, but couldn't find this anywhere.

Okay. I've always written a sentence like:

Bob said as he past me.

Bob said as he scuttled past me.

Would the first one be passed and the second one past?

Sorry, I feel really stupid for asking such a basic grammar question :p

"Passed" is the past-tense of the verb "pass", as in "Peyton Manning passed the football." "Past" is an adverb or adjective, used to modify another verb or a noun. Or, in some usages, a noun in its own right, as when we speak of "the past".
