Should I include my age in a query letter?

So this has been mentioned in a FAQ-y place on here, but they only sourced two different authors: one who said they wanted to know if you were significantly younger than the typical author (I'm fifteen) and one who said you should never include it because it was basically unprofessional and would be a HUGE disadvantage to mention. The general conclusion was that you should see what the agent wanted. Problem is, from what I've seen on individual agents, none of them mention whether this is something they want to see. Therefore, if I can't find any resources, what should I do? Go ahead and mention it? Or cut it out to be safe?

My understanding is that your age would only become an issue if you're offered a contract. Since it is a legal document, your parents/guardian would have to sign on your behalf. Until that time, what you're pushing is the work, not yourself.

Now, if you're writing for your age-group, mentioning your age might be a push as that could be seen as your expertise in the area. If not, then I wouldn't mention it.

FWIW, I started submitting when I was 14 and never mentioned it because I submitted to adult reading-level editors.

Your age has no bearing whatsoever on your query. Don't mention it because it can be a negative against you, even if you write for teens. Learning to write well takes time, and not many young writers have the skills necessary for a publishable book (some do of course, but it's the exception to the rule, so why shoot yourself if the foot if you happen to be one of those writers?). You would mention it if offered representation because you'll need a parent or guardian to sign/co-sign your contract, so legal issues are involved.
