I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on two books from David Williams: Mirrored Heavens and Burning Skies. Amazon reviews look mixed, and I always suspect that some positive ones come from friends of the author, etc., so I thought I'd get opinions here. I don't like to waste money! Anyone read these and what are your thoughts?

I'm planning to check these out. A friend of the author's was telling me about them and made them sound like Richard Morgan, which is good enough for me.

Inter-library loan, I thought. :)

Ilfayne's Last Lament, the fourth in the series ;)

Yes, Sophia gets points for correctness. Everyone else gets silly points.

Darn. I think I missed the silly points giveaway, I was going to suggest Illinois. (Anyone remember when that was a valid postal abbreviation? I think it was on the way out when I was a kid.)

Never heard of either of those books, so I can't make a suggestion on their merit. But interlibrary loan is an option. You could try hunting them down used, too, if you aren't completely opposed to spending money (and it may be easier than ILL -- the system here looks like a pain).

I've never read either novel entire, only a few pages in the store for the first. Not exactly the best writing I'd ever seen, and many of the online reviews from sources I trust seemed to suggest it might not be worth the investment. I don't like Richard Morgan much, so that's another strike. Not commentng on your taste, only noting a personal preference.
