Hello!
Before I can even start writing a plot for a game (I'm thinking of an adventure game type) I need to know the rules. I know of several great mystery stories/books. Is it possible for me to base my game plot on let's say the Spy Wore Silk by Andrea Pickens? Use her characters and storyline? Do I need to buy rights to do this? Do I need to buy rights just to use her characters even if I don't use her story plot? How does other game makers and companies do it, such as the Nancy Drew series or the Adventure Company and their Agatha Christie games?
My guess is there are not many game makers on this forum, but I think game scripting falls under the same rules and such as movie or play scripting. . .
I would be so grateful if someone can make this all clear to me!
Thank you so much!
Bernadette
