Okay, so a question from a total newbe. An agent asked to see a completed manuscript and for a two week exclusive from the time the manuscript arrives. What does this mean exactly. If someone else asks for a manuscript I have to say No?

It means you can't send another agent/publisher the ms. for two weeks.

Two weeks isn't really that long a time.

And just in case someone does ask for it in those two weeks, just tell them you will send it in a week or so once the exclusivity is over.

Again, two weeks is not a long time.

And congrats.

Two weeks is pretty short in the publishing world. If another agent asks for a full, politely tell them that you will send it once the exclusivity is over. They'll understand.

Cheering you all on!
However, if you already have work out with an agent, you can't exactly grant an exclusive. In that case you would let her know that you can't and why, but offer it to her anyway.
