Can somebody please give me as much info as possible about auctions, why they happen, and how. I know that there have been some threads on this before, but I'd like a refresher.

Wonderful blog post, wandergirl - answers pretty much all my questions, although, of course, I'll be happy to read personal accounts from fellow AWers. Congrats on the sale. Sounds magnificent. Was your auction Rounds or Best Bids?

Thank you!! I can't say much about it, but I'm pretty sure it was rounds -- my agent did go back to the bidders, and the bids were adjusted. I was very happy with the result :)

Are you going to auction yourself, or just curious?

I am just curious at this point. My agent started pitching my book early this week, and we heard back from four editors who were interested in reading it. She is expecting to hear back from a few more (those who are returning from vacation on Monday). I know that their interest in reading the book doesn't indicate that there will be multiple interest in buying the book (or any interest, for that matter) but I am in the mood to entertain thoughts about the impossible and unlikely.
