This movie really creeped me out. In many different ways. Anybody watched it? I'll never accept drinks from precocious teens anymore, and probably won't eat another almond in my life.

OMG, I accidentally watched this movie on TV when I was about 10 or 11. I didn't sleep for a week. I thought, oh, Jodie Foster, she does all those sweet Disney movies, how bad could it be? Yikes!

It lives in my memory as one of the creepiest things I ever did see.

There's also the scene where... er, you know. It was Jodie Foster's adult older sister as a body double, but still... yikes!

*Looks for brain surgeon to remove memories*

I watched this movie about 100 times. I was obsessed with it when it first came out. I absolutely LOVE it. Made me a lifelong Foster fan.

Ha, I remember watching this when I was little and cheering for Jodie when she kills the guy who is threatening to rape her. I should watch it again. :D
Yes, well, he did do that nasty thing to her pet hamster. He deserved it.

Apparently, she really hates this movie. She was afraid people would think the scenes with her sister were really her. I can see why that would bother her, but I still think it's better than Carny and Foxes combined.

I remember liking both the book and the movie when I was a teen. Haven't revisited either since then, though.

Are those roles Jodie Foster played in her teens even allowed nowadays? I'd imagine the child protection laws would be all over them...

Funny -- Jodie Foster plays much more family-friendly roles nowadays compared to her childhood!

I never saw the film but I read the book. Is that scene where he burns the rat's eyes out with a cigar/ette actually showed in the film?

*Shivers* Glad I never saw it! Will make a point not to ever see it.

You'd think she would hate Taxi Driver--not only did it put in a sexual role, it's associated with Hinchley, who thought killing Reagan would impress her.

I recall hearing somewhere she is not at all proud of the work she did on that film.

Ok, I've seen this DVD in one of my local stores so now I"m interested in actually picking it up. For some reason, most of the stuff I've picked up lately on DVD is anime, documentaries or horror. Go figure.

Great movie. And while the subject matter is certainly grown-up, I really don't see how any legal protections would be invoked.

A while ago, there was a law passed called the Child Pornography Protection Act, that made it illegal to show people over the age of 18 portraying underaged people in real or simulated sex acts. The only film I've ever heard of having been prosecuted under this act was the academy award winning foreign film The Tin Drum.

Critics made a big fuss over Dakota Fanning making Hounddog a couple of years ago, but it wasn't nearly as graphic as Foster's films, I don't think.
