Going to the book shop is an event for me, because the only decent one is quite a way away. I try to get there about once every six weeks. (And I much prefer personal shopping to online.)
I'm going in the morning, and it's my only chance for the next few weeks to stock up on what I need. I have to brush up on my genre's current market, so I come begging for book recommendations.
New (or new-ish) YA urban fantasy, with any or all of the following criteria:
- with romance
- with sex scenes
- if possible, with some kind of GLBT element
- with kinds of demons/whatever other than vampires
- with a focus on weaponry
- with good twists
I have The Demon's Lexicon, City of Bones, Marked, Vampire Academy, the Twilight saga... what else has been hot in the past couple of years or so? I figure if I'm going to do YA UF well, I have to know what I'm up against.
