Bethamint

Hello all!
I'm Bethan, a 20 year old Welsh film student from scenic Aberystwyth. I'm not sure if this forum is populated by many Brits, so apologies if you have no idea where that is or even how to pronounce it!

My script writing tutor at uni told me it would do me a lot of good to join some kind of online writing community (since living in the middle of nowhere isn't a good place to meet others interested in writing), so a google search later and here I am!

Please refrain from involving me in any ritual newbie sacrifices if it's at all possible!

Welcome Bethan!

No sacrifices, just a Hello and Welcome.

We might toss a smilie your way though.

Ahoy there Betha!
Do you go to the Abba Uny - has lovely beachside property, yet sadly the second highest suicide count for a university in the UK (the premiere suicide university is of course York). Did you do shocking cinema at A-level Film Studies? I got to make my own shocking piece. Perhaps you have heard of me, the guy who was on 100% then lost it all with some film short entitled 'The Gratuitous Rape and Plunder of Beethoven's Bottom'? No? Oh well. I only bring it up because if I had to create a list of 5 things I am proud of, that film would be there (suddenly feels no pride)
Also, I think you should know that Abba University has the third highest number (for a university) of pubs in its vicinity. I almost went myself, to do the same course no less.
Stay on the boards, and keep impressing those suicidal academics
(don't, for god's sake, push them over the edge).....

Hello Beth,

Welcome to the cooler. Apparently you don't want the regular newbie hazing, so please keep your hat on and I will put away the shaving cream. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Aber-ist-with would probably sound about right.
As welsh names go, it's not the trickiest (try saying "Cnwch Coch") hehe.. but it's still a bit of a mouth full if you're not used to it.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Oh, very well, if you insist. I suppose we can perform the alternate Ceremony of the Sissy. If you'll just slip this moose head on for a few minutes...

We've got great writers and great people from all over the world here, and we're delighted to add one more. You'll get answers to your questions, people who are glad to share what they've learned the hard way, support for your efforts and sympathy for your rejections--and all the silliness you want, too.

Maryn, adding her welcome

Hi Bethan. Nice to meet you. Had a lovely holiday in Wales once, and husband's been down to Merthyr a couple of times with the SNP, to support Plaid Cymru.

I don't know much about Aberystwyth, but unless there's more than one, I believe there a pub called Weston Vaults on Thesian or Thespian Street, and a nice place called "Scholars," somehwre near the center of town, I think.

Cardigan Bay is a beautiful place.

Okay, I'll try this again. I don;t know much about Aberystwyth, but unless there's more than one such place, it sits on Cardigan bay, which is stunningly beautiful. There's a pub on Thesian (Maybe Thespian?) Street called Weston Vaults, and a wonderful place to get a drink called The Scholar which is, I think, near the center of town. Could be wrong about it's location.

:hi: Hi Bethan and welcome to AW! My grandfather came from Lientwordine, which, I was told, borders Wales. So glad you joined AW! :)
