As if ... as though

I've seen both. I tried to understand the difference (if any) between "as though" and "as if" but couldn't figure it out. I can't come up with an example right now, sorry. If I find one, I'll edit my post and add one.

I believe that even by the experts they're considered to mean the same thing.

as if or though, as it would be if: It was as if the world had come to an end.

got this from dictionary.com so I assume this means they mean the same thing.
