I don't know if this is the right forum for this (maybe the Novels forum is better?), but it does involve an agent, so I figure I'd ask here anyway:

In a partial request, an agent said she generally liked the story but found some of the language at the beginning a bit archaic (implied it gets better as it goes along). I think that could easily be changed; should I tell the agent this when I send in the partial?

I would. She's given a hint and if she likes the rest, why shouldn't she like the start, also, if it is modernised?

Ditto.
BUT
is it your style or something that fits in your novel or is it a 'tic' that needs to be addressed. If she gives you an opportunity you might well address it...

It's a deliberate style for the beginning (though I wonder if she sees it as a tic). In any case, it isn't absolutely necessary for the story.

If you feel comfortable making those changes, sure, let her know you're open to revision.
