Inspired by my own upcoming pub date, and my friend who's just joined AW and is looking for similar information...
How do you go about getting blurbs (outside of the ones your publisher may or may not procure for you)? I know there's the making-friends-with-other-writers bit, but does "cold-calling" ever work? (Writing to an author you admire whose work is similar to yours and asking for a blurb out of the blue, that is)
Are there any other ways to get blurbs? Six degrees of separation favors? Bribes? I hear JA Konrath can be bought for a six-pack.

Also - who would you want to blurb you? Share, even if it's totally pie-in-the-sky for a book you haven't even finished. I would kill for a blurb from Dean Koontz (but I don't think he even blurbs anyone... )
