Emma Peel 4-evah! She was my role model when I was a pre-teen.

Although I watched reruns a while back and she was a bit more "damsel-in-distress" than I remembered. Despite that I still don't recall any other decent kick-butt female on TV from my childhood. (Yeah, I'm old.

At the time, 'way back when, Mrs. Peel didn't ding my bell. Watching re-runs and clips now, I'm not entirely sure why. Rather charming, actually. As was her choice of wardrobe on many occasions. Can't remember Cathy Gale, didn't mind Tara King, but Purdey was definitely the It Girl for a new generation of fans.

Just thought I'd take the pulse of AW because I head an interview with Honor Blackman (Cathy Gale) on BBC Radio 2 online this morning.

Interesting trivia: Linda Thorson, who played Tara King, was the only one who wasn't a Bond Girl.

Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) IS the female Avenger. Noone else comes close.

Remember watching reruns on French TV, where they call the series "Melon Hats and Leather Boots" - chapeau melon actually being the normal French expression for bowler hat.
