Does the font of the cover letter matter? My manuscript font is in Courier, but my cover letter font is Times New Roman. Will that make a difference?

There's no reason the cover letter should match the manuscript. Unless a publisher specifies otherwise, my manuscripts are in Courier 12 double-spaced and my correspondence in Times New Roman 12 single-spaced.

... my rule of thumb, which I picked up from some long forgotten source, is to use Arial for online computer submissions as it is easier to read on the screen and to use Times Roman for mailed paper subs as it is easier to read on paper; and you know it really is true, unless I'm imagining things. Yeah, I know; I'm imagining things.
Mmmm, this was a mailed sub, so maybe it was a good thing I used Times New Roman for the cover letter font, then.
